A modified screening criterion
The objective of an adaptogenic screening criterion is to identify herbal remedies that increase
the bodies’ resistance capacity. Brekhman’s criterion was the first to attempt at creating such a
criterion. The new adaptogenic screening criterion, presented earlier in this document, proved
effective in identifying resistance boosting herbal medicines from a greater pool of potential
adaptogens.
The experience of using the new criterion shed light on the process in general and the new
screening method specifically. Given these observations, a revised version updates specific
areas of the criterion. This third generation criterion by no means represents the best criterion
possible. With further research, a better screening process will undoubtedly come to the fore.
Further iterations that refine the screening criterion would be a welcome addition to adaptogen
research.
